New Edition of Civil Procedure Textbook: Reto Strittmatter as Co-Author

24.04.2025

On 1 January 2025, the revised Swiss Code of Civil Procedure came into effect. Dr. Bernhard Berger and Dr. Andreas Güngerich, partners and attorneys at Kellerhals Carrard, as well as PD Dr. Christoph Hurni, Federal Judge in Lausanne, and Dr. Reto Strittmatter, partner and attorney at Wartmann Merker, co-authored a new textbook on civil procedure law which has been published today in the "Stämpfli’s Legal Textbooks" series.

The textbook provides a structured overview of proceedings at the first and second cantonal instances, as well as the system of civil law appeals under the Federal Supreme Court Act. It also provides accessible explanations of international connections, particularly with regard to the Swiss Private International Law Act (PILA) and the Lugano Convention.

Numerous illustrative case examples with solution approaches make the material more accessible and enhance understanding of its practical application.

The textbook is especially helpful for those preparing for the bar exam in the cantons of Bern or Zurich, as it aligns with the respective cantonal introductory laws.
